When one faces the battle of cancer one may want to fight cancer because it is human nature to want to keep on living Unfortunately there are some cancers that incurable Although the cancers that are treatable are often treated by the most modern medicine Each patient has a different experience Such treatments like radiation chemotherapy and surgery are used to treat cancer One would hope that the treatments are effective and remove the cancer completely unfortunately that is not always the case In Thirty Umrigars novel The World We Found Armaiti a mother of one divorced and in her mid 50s was diagnosed with a cancerous brain tumor But unlike many other people Armaiti chooses not to fight the battle of cancer Throughout the novel the people that love her family and friends find her decision hard to accept and struggle with her decisionDoctors are finding new ways to treat cancer because each year there is a rise in the number of Americans who are diagnosed with this disease According to Ezekiel Emmanuel This year more than 16 million Americans-05 percent of the population- will receive a diagnosis of cancer Emmanuel SR14 Chemotherapy is one of the leading treatments doctors use for patients who are battling cancer Chemotherapy is the use of medical chemicals to destroy cancer cells in the body In the world we found Armaiti is a woman who has the full advantage of using Chemotherapy treatment She is a wealthy woman and is aware that the option is completely open to her Armaiti is also aware that this treatment could possibly extend her life Knowing that she has the option open to her she still denies this option In the novel Armaiti told her daughter Diane There isnt going to be an treatment honey I decided against it Umrigar 16 This news was very upsetting to Diane she did not comprehend why in other words her mother was giving up
