Journal Entry 1 Chapter 1 English 101 Chapter one talks about the different types of writing used in everyday life There are several types of writing that are commonly used every day Shopping lists during work and during school are several examples Of course there are too many types that are commonly used to list but they are all examples of the different ways that people use writing to make life easier Shopping lists are only an example of the types of lists that people use everyday Making a list frees us from relying on our memories It is more efficient and easier to make a list of items to remind us of what we need Personally I find that lists are extremely helpful as a memory aid It is difficult to memorize a list and still remember it at the store It is also very easy to get sidetracked and end up with things that you didnt need at all In most jobs it is very efficient to be organized Therefore writing becomes an important tools in the workplace There is a need for forms to be filled out inventory records invoices and many other tasks that can be assisted with writing Although many businesses are using computers to hold information there is still a need for writing In fact using a computer is a type of writing itself In most of my jobs there have always been a need for writing At Jiffy Lube every car that had its oil previously changed also had all of its information stored in their network of computers It saves time and in the workplace time is money It absolutely necessary to use different types of writing in school There are many types of writing that are used by students and teachers With out writing it would be impossible to teach and evaluate the progress of students It would be useless there wouldnt be any
