Ive Got ProseIve Got Prose Poetry travels into the deepest and darkest parts of the unconscious Filled with conciseness a poem embodies many components and elements In writing an author may choose from a plethora of alternatives of form Although most authors choose a specific way to write their poems many poets do not these authors create their work yet there is no particular structure This type of writing is known as open form Prose is a type of open form that consists of longer lines and although it is without any apparent patterns the writing is quite exceptional The use of prose is apparent within many famous poems In the poem We Wear the Mask Paul Lawrence Dunbar uses prose to bestow his thoughts about oppression and although there is no exact form the composition seems to be written perfectly Prose is a unique approach to writing poetry It allows a writer to create his work without having to consider implementing the proper techniques The type of poetry that comes out of this genre of writing generally focuses on subjects of a more thought-bearing nature In reading and rereading the poems the reader must analyze what is trying to be said Each poem has its own patterns of rhythm which the reader must learn and discover Poems like the sky was can dy by EE Cummings and Chicago by Carl Sandburg are two extremely good examples of prose These poems appear to have no apparent sentence structure at all as the words are all jumbled and scattered on the paper Yet a closer look reveals components that are typical to closed form such as theme figure of speech and rhyme Although this type of poetry may seem more demanding and may take more time to identify with it proves to attract the more creative and intellectual parts of the mind Many open form poems present very controversial and meaningful issues Although on
