The human eyes do not give importance to the small things Small ordinary objects seem to be very insignificant causing humans to look pass them Szymborska a poet on the other hand showed value in the most ordinary things in life For example in some of the poems in her poetry book Poems New and Collected Szymborska gives significance to objects such as Pi water and even an onion She uses simple objects in order to portray magnificent themes giving these objects great importance Szymborska in the poems Pi Water and The Onion portrays the themes of human imperfection lifes continuity and the importance of nature through her usage of imagery personification and symbolism in order to depict the significance and value in simple ordinary objects Through the usage of imagery in the poems Pi Water and The Onion Szymborska portrays the theme of human imperfection of order to convey the importance in everything even simple objects For example in the poem Pi Szymborska imagery is seen in the lines her phone and her shirt size the number of in habitants sixty- five cents hip measurement two fingers a charade a code in which humans find hail to thee blithe spirit bird thou never wert alongside ladies and gentlemen no cause for alarm Lines 23-27 By portraying this imagery in the poem Szymborska demonstrates the imperfection of humans through her usage of a simple object such as Pi Pi is able to go on for eternity because it is part of nature it was not created by humans Unlike Pi phone numbers or t-shirt sizes cannot go on forever because they are man-made objects With this point Szymborska accentuates on the point of human imperfection giving importance to simple objects such as Pi using imagery Not only does Szymborska use imagery in Pi to portray her theme but she also uses the substance of water to prove her point In her poem
