Well I think we need to pray for rain Economist 2011 says Chris Wingert Praying is probably the only thing the people of Texas can do at this point The state of Texas has been experiencing one of the worst droughts in state history In addition Texas reservoirs are short on water supply in the town of Big Spring right outside of Midland Economist 2011 The severe drought that has parched most of the state this year shows no signs of abating explains the author The state climatologist believes that it could last for the rest of the decade Economist 2011 Hoping to solve this problem the state of Texas has decided to try to expand their water supply or start conserving in order to keep up with the growing population With the demand of water being so high water shortages are becoming worse as time goes on By 2060 demand is projected to rise to 22m acre-feet a year Economist 2011 With numbers like these the state of Texas may never see a decent amount of water anytime soon The supply of water is expected to decrease from 17m acre-feet of water to 153m because of new regulations Economist 2011 Cities that do have a normal amount of water arent able to transport it to the places that are the driest because piping is an issue Economist 2011With the driest cities at their final stand Texas is starting to put money and thought into how they could replenish the suffering communities New reservoirs are probably the first idea that comes to mind for agencies along with others such as improving conservation and preventing erosion Economist 2011 With these ideas in mind an initiative was voted upon to authorize the state to issue up to an additional 6 billion in bonds to help Economist 2011 As mentioned in the article conserving water could be as easy as rationing snacks from the fridge if they had
