Problem What affects the frequency of a pendulum Hypothesis The longer the length of the pendulum the lower the frequency Procedure We tied one end of the string to two magnets and the other end 60 cm away from the magnets Then we pulled the magnet at three different lengths to the side and counted the amount of swings back and forth in 30 seconds We repeated this two other times with the string at 40 cm and at 20 cm Then we calculated the frequency using cycles over seconds We also added weight to the pendulum to see if it would change the amount of cycles Observations and Data As we swung the pendulum back and forth we saw that how far we pulled it out to the side did not change the amount of cycles Also as we added more weight to the pendulum the cycles still did not change Only the length of the string changed the amount of cycles Organization and Analysis In this experiment we learned that the mass of the object at the end of the pendulum did not change the amount of cycles in 30 seconds Also the amount the pendulum was pulled to the side did not change the number of cycles but the length of the string that was tied to the pendulum did change the amount of cycles We saw that the hypothesis was correct in that the longer the length of the string was the lower the frequency was Also the longer the string the less cycles in 30 seconds there were Choose a Solution--Conclusion The amount of mass did not change a thing in the data that was taken Also how far we pulled the pendulum to the side did not change it The only thing that we checked that changed the amount of cycles was the length of the pendulum This information caused
