People say that friends both come and go and to the extent of my knowledge this is the most truthful saying that I have ever come across Daily I encounter many people whom have an impact on my life in numerous ways Despite the plethora of people that I have come to know my father reigns at the top of the list as he is the one person that has influenced my life the most My father through his own life and experience has taught me the importance of education by seizing the opportunities that I have which he didnt have Alongside that through all of his actions my father has instilled into me the importance of responsibility and perseveranceLiving in Vietnam as a child my father lived a very hard life that at many times interfered with his education When he was merely eight years old after both my grandfather and grandmother had passed he was fleeing from city to city to avoid the Communists in fact my father never had a complete education he had completed first grade skipped to fifth grade and continued all the way until the starting year of eighth grade where he fell ill to malnutrition for nearly two years upon recovery he continued his education as a twelfth-grader With this background my father was without a doubt certain that he did not want his children to experience such tragedies and desired that I along with my siblings attain a good education in a suitable environment Upon arriving in the United States as a refugee my father began working minimum-waged jobs to pay for his enrollment in college To my father education is priceless and stressed the importance of education by spending any penny necessary to further my education whether it be hiring a tutor or allowing me to take extra courses Every time I hear about my fathers difficult life and how he never had the chance to
