In poetry and in song the hero embodies the qualities of bravery strength and honorable First the hero should be brave Ill take your bet youre gonna regret Cause Im the best thats ever been Clements The Devil Went Down to Georgia 21-22 The Charlie Daniels Band sings of a Georgia mountain boy Johnny who bravely accepts the challenge of the devil with the words Ill youre bet Youre gonna regret Im the best thats ever been Johnnys bravery is revealed in his courage to accept the chance of losing not only his life but his immortal soul his chance for an after-life His bravery is further shown in his readiness to confront the most powerful and evil of all beings in the universe He makes this bet even though he is not certain of just how good the devil is and with the knowledge that the devil cheats and may not hold to the bargain Clements chooses Johnnys bet with the devil to show his bravery because it reveals Johnnys willingness to put everything on the line Secondly the Hero should be strong Wheres the street-wise Hercules To fight the Rising odds Isnt there a white Knight upon a fiery steed Tyler Holding Out For A Hero 3-5 Bonnie Tyler sings Where in the street-wise HerculesTo fight the rising odds Isnt there a white knight upon a fiery steed asking where is the smart strong hero to rescue her on his steed The strength of this hero is compared to Hercules and model of strength in Greek mythology This strength of Hercules is overpowering being stronger than any other living thing gives people the motivation to trust in this hero that can beat any all-powerful being In another part of this poem the white knight on his steed Knights were strong powerful respected beings in the olden days When you think of a white knight the first thing you think of is strong
