When you think of a person playing video games what do you picture The majority of people picture a dark room with just a screen protruding light accompanied with the gamer slouching in front of the screen The gamer is surrounded with empty energy drinks and junk food that has been devoured during games The gamers eyes are bloodshot as a result of staring at the screen for long periods of time Their clothes differ from pajamas or just dirty clothes that have been worn for many days This stereotype of people who play videogames has influenced the parents to look down upon videogames unfortunately only looking at the negative side of playing these games Surprising to many people there are actually substantial benefits that users attain from playing videogames such as improving their critical thinking capability applying these skills learned from video games to the real world and inducing creativity in our children The popularity of video games struck around the seventies and eighties decades varying from arcade consoles and computer games Children and adolescents have struggled throughout the decades with these new technologies from their parents who believe that videogames have affected their mental skills behavior and creativity Nouhad Arzoumanian a local parent who lives in Keller TX had a few words to say about this topic My personal experience with my two boys that have played videogames for the majority of their lives has lead me to believe that video games has negative effects on the children These games brainwash them into playing for many hours and decreases their imagination when it comes to the real world Arzoumanian Most parents would look at these games and see a demon teaching their children how to act Playing violent videogames will not help them in real life situations these are not made to help children but to get them hooked on violence and keep wanting to buy more games Arzoumanian These thoughts have been
