Learning is not necessarily what or how a teacher teaches but how we take in the knowledge we are being given Many have a hard time appreciating the materials given to them to learn because of the fact that they do not find it interesting or captivating We should be focusing on the fact that it is new knowledge given to us to use that we could possibly take with us for the rest of our lives In an article that Gary Gutting wrote he states many points on this issue and elaborates intensely on the points Which in turn made me realize that that is what us college students may expect that the teachers will make everything interesting for us College is place where we are taught the subjects that will help us specifically in our careers therefore it should be the place where we finally take in and appreciate the lessons and knowledge we are given and use it to our advantagesAs Gary Gutting stated Students need to recognize that their college education is above all a matter of opening themselves up to new dimensions of knowledge and understanding Students have grown so fond of the habits of high school getting handed simple and common topics that are meant to be interesting Yet those subjects were not nearly as informative educational or truly attention holding as the subjects we will receive in college Of course some will disagree that they are interesting but they are yet to realize those topics will captivate them with the knowledge it brings forth to them Knowledge comes in different forms and to some it will be uninteresting but it can and most likely will be useful in the near-distant futureThough we come into college to further our education we may not realize that college is completely different in sophistication and expected maturity than high school and that we will not be babied with such simple topics
