African American men are still being related to violence because history is repeating itself Their ancestor has been through so many violent approaches that they turned violent to retaliate back to what was done to them Violent men of color have been raised around violence so to them it becomes their norm The young men begin to think that being violent is the ONLY way of living Most men of color see violence their whole life either their families or the community they resign in This research paper will discuss why African American men men of color reacted to violence based on of their history pride and respect and not trusting the people around them and how it relates to the films and play we went through in class Stewards and Simons article said Anderson 1999 argued that the high rates of poverty joblessness violence racial discrimination alienation mistrust of police and hopelessness that characterize many disadvantaged settings have led to a neighborhood street culture History shows that African American men has been discriminated against for centuries rather it was their race color or religion Emmett Till a young African American was tortured and murdered for allegedly seducing a white woman in her husbands store before he left out the store Yet society has already labeled men of color African American Men as being violent but never tells why When you look at the news and they speak about violent behavior such as robbery shooting or killing their Homicide rates are five times higher than that of the general population for several decades and for African American males between the ages of 15 and 34 homicide is the primary cause of deathIssue Brief Men and Boys African American men are caring around this power sense of hate and hurt and the only way they know how to react is the only way they was taught Contrasting to any other races of men African American
