As we anxiously wait for the next millennium to arrive many questions are forming in our minds Most of these questions are impossible to answer due to the fact that we do not possess the ability to predict the future Experts have made many different speculations as to how they feel the transition into the twenty first century will progress One question that has caused some debate is What will Americas role be in the year 2000 No one knows exactly what role we will play but many have formed their own opinions Today we live in the most powerful and influential nation in the history of the world Many countries look to the United States for guidance Based on this fact I feel that America should act as a moral economic and political role model to the world Contrary to what many people believe morality has improved in many places Recently it became legal for Russian citizens to worship in the religion of their choice This is a huge step in the right direction but there must be more to follow Our society must taken action and strive to insure basic human rights are recognized in all countries Not only is America the most powerful country in the history of the world it is also the richest Because we are leaving the century with a balanced budget we are put in the position to act as a economic role model for the rest of the globe We must make every effort to share our knowledge and technology with others It is important to realize that if a countrys citizens are improving their economy and standard of living they are more content This makes them less likely to look for conflict inside their borders or beyond Another aspect of our country that must be influential throughout the world is our government Perhaps the main factor of our democratic government would be our
