Why Christopher Columbus Should Be Remembered as a Conqueror

"Your essay is focused, with a consistent attendance to the topic and thesis. The organization is logical and guides the reader through your evidence in a clear and straightforward way. To clarify your sources and develop your ethos, make sure to provide information on which source was used to access the journal and which movie you are referring to; even if your audience will know what movie was watched in class, it's good practice to provide that full information in an academic essay.

The current text shows a number of minor errors, as well as some awkward or unclear diction or syntax; you can proofread and revise to polish up those issues for a stronger piece of writing. Related, I'd like to check in on the thesis, which argues that he was "not a true explorer, but he was a conqueror of people." The main thrust of this is in setting up the contrast, and the reader understands this; however, "true explorer" is not defined, either by comparison to another figure from the age or according to a set of ideals. Considering that the Age of Discovery was rife with abuse and exploitation, as you note in your conclusion, and taking into account that exploration and conquering so often go hand-in-hand, and considering Columbus did embark on a voyage of exploration, for good or ill, is there another word choice, label, or role ("not a true hero"?) that better makes the point?"
