Furman University was my first college tourI had nothing to compare it to In way I would consider that good and bad Not having anything to compare the university to did not allow me to know what aspects were unique but it also ended up setting my standards for upcoming college tours during my selection processNot having any siblings and being the first of my immediate family to attend a four-year college or university made the college process new to my parents and me so I looked into colleges with an objective view I heard about Furman from the seniors at my high school during my junior year so I decided to check it out After researching it I decided it seemed like a good fit which is why I decided to visit the campus Growing up as an only child the smaller campus and student to teacher ratio was quite appealing to me My parents always urged me to do my best but as Ive grown older I get more disappointed with myself than they do They know I do my best because that is what theyve taught me to do If I do worse than I plan they are not upset with me because I am so upset with myself Throughout my high school experience Ive had rigorous schedules and Ive accepted those challenges Furman is the perfect school to continue with this Furmans academics are looked upon highly and I want to attend a school where students challenge themselves It was comforting to learn about the tutoring offered and how professors are available as well I will take advantage of these opportunities as well if I need help or even try to help others once eligible In my household college football was not a huge deal therefore there was no specific college my parents hoped I would attend Because of this lack of spirit for college football I was not really looking
