Jonass decision to escape the community was the biggest decision of his life it took a plethora of dedication and bravery to take the initiative to leave The community was established upon the idea of uniform based in a world where everything and everyone was the same Jonas and the Giver were the only two people who had the wisdom to understand the importance of individual feelings and diversity among citizens I stand behind Jonass decision to flee from the community as do I believe he is a hero for transmitting memories of feelings to the occupants Jonas and The Giver knew they couldnt let the community continue to live in ignorance while they had all the wisdom They devised a plan for Jonas to solely escape to allow all his prior memories to be transmitted into the occupants enlightening them into a world of change Jonas not only had memories of love colors and joy but he also held past accuracies of pain angry and depression He and his mentor knew these feelings would hurt the people but knew it was essential to save them from their own ignorance With the transmission of these remembrances and the help of The Giver who had to stay behind the community would drastically change for the better Colors would soon become visible feelings would be felt and individual choices would need to be made The Giver would need to help everyone through this tough time but it would all be for the better Soon everyone would be free to be an individual and be free from the uniform antics of the society the way it is supposed to be Jonass love for Gabriel was another reason it was heroic for Jonas to leave After the memory of love was transmitted to Jonas his whole world was changed he began to feel more and more feelings He developed a strong bond to Gabriel a child
