I wont laugh I promise Weve all said this before and done theexact opposite Lying is something done on a day to day basis by manypeople Some people dont even think twice when it comes to lying ortelling the truth But why do we do it A lie is a false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive anintentional untruth a falsehood Not all lies are harmful In factsometimes lying is the best approach for protecting privacy andourselves from other malice Lloyd There are many different reasons why people lie some good and some badPeople lie all the time maybe to spare someones feelings to preventthemselves from getting in trouble maybe even because the truth justdoesnt sound as good or nearly as cool Or they just lie because theysee there is nothing wrong with it whereas other people think its ahorrible thing to do in any circumstance Say for example your friendcomes up to you and asks if you like their sweater you look at it andyou see that it is in fact the most heinous thing you have ever seen inthe world Do you tell them that Some people would say yes and some noYou could look them in the eye and say no I actually dont like yoursweater or you could say yes its really nice I wish I had somethinglike it In that moment you would lie because you didnt want to hurtyour friends feelings and some people think that is okayAnother common reason for why people lie is maybe for the fear of beingrejected Those who tended to lie more were individuals who were moreconcerned with self-presentation Helium People lie because they areafraid of what other people might think of them if they really knew thetruth They are scared of being ostracized and maybe even cast off assomeone who is weird or unapproachable so they lie and say things thatthey think others would want to hear I
