Shauna NewkirkComposition IDr ClarkOctober 22 2013In Leon Botstein reading he discussed his proposal to abolish American high schools and he gave very well written details on why they should be abolished Botstein feels as if high schools are a failure because of the superficial definitions poor administration and faculty members Botstein feels as if the administrators and faculty are rewarded these positions because they are former coaches As this being a problem this results to the culture of the inside establishment is not contested by the adults in the school Botsteins says Botstein makes his point Does everyone agree Being that Im a reader I agree to disagree Things such as cliques and superficial definitions I do agree on High school students 90 out of 10 do believe in cliques and superficial definitions and they do believe thats much more important than learning Being that I was once a high school student Ive had some part in that such as a clique I had girl friends that I go to lunch and chat with I considered them friends we always stuck together and that was that I was well distracted by my clique I hardly went to class always felt hanging out was much more important However there had to be change In addition too I agree with the poor quality recruitment of high school teachers Not all but most high school teachers teachers in general dont have much patience for students For example most teachers want everyone to be on the same page but everyone has a different way of learning and teachers get annoyed by that Why teach and not have enough tolerance such as going over things with students that need the extra help Nevertheless I do disagree when Botstein says By the time those who graduate from high school go on to college and realize what really is at stake in becoming an
