Recently in the United States the biggest debate is whether or not to allow same-sex marriages Thirteen states and the District of Columbia have already jumped on board and allow the marriages to happen These states include California Connecticut Delaware Iowa Massachusetts Maine Maryland Minnesota New Hampshire New York Rhode Island Vermont and Washington Thirty-five state have had bans put into their laws forbidding same-sex couples from marrying Those who are against same-sex marriage state that allowing gays to marry will only lead to other types of marriages In their eyes legalizing gay marriage is opening the gates to allowing polygamy and interspecies marriages The people who have these opinions seem to be expecting the worst outcome Allowing same-sex marriage will not necessarily lead to these other types of marriage This will only create a happier world with happier people While all other couples are getting married and starting their lives together gay couples cannot Although they can live together and be in their relationships and be in love they cannot take the big step that most heterosexual couples who are in love get to take Everyone deserves to be happy no matter who they chose to date or marry Just because someone else lives their life a certain way does not mean it will greatly affect how another person lives their life If same-sex couples are allowed to marry how will that affect anything major in anyone elses life other than the same-sex couples
