Putting all of your trust into a 1200 pound animal which at any moment could leave you paralyzed or even dead with one wrong move this is a risk equestrians are willing to take in order to peruse our passion Not only do we put our trust in our horses to keep us safe but we also trust them to cooperate and perform at shows I have been riding for four years and last year I had qualified to show at the state level competition in the class Jr Classic Hunter under Saddle This was my first year as a junior rider out of walk trot which means this was the first year I was even able to attend the qualifying shows leading up to states Making the show in the first place was such an amazing accomplishment even more being such a young rider straight out of walk trot Dreams of cantering a victory lap across the brightly lit vast arena lined with vibrant flowers danced through my head but of course placing at states much less winning was almost impossible for someones first year I did manage to keep this dream alive though up until the second we set foot into the arena My mom and I had just shut the last of the heavy trailer doors and double checked to make sure everything was secure before we made our trip to Harrisburg One final kiss on Fudges velvety nose and we were off Arriving at the show grounds was beyond nerve-racking seeing hundreds of horse trailers lined up like soldiers ready for battle We unloaded Fudge quickly found my trainer and tacked up for our first practice ride After the beyond rough ride in the muddy outdoor practice ring my spirits were low and I was almost positive that I didnt stand a chance of even placing against the beautiful horses that I watched so effortlessly float across the arena I had
