1 Yasmins Inner WorldThe film starts with Yasmin changing her Muslim dress into western clothes By doing so she wants to better adjust herself to both environments her home in a rural Muslim community and her workplace in the city She tries to change her identify to keep everyone happy including her traditional father Khalid at home and her female friend and colleague John Nonetheless she is not really comfortable with her states in either environment As a western woman she is not used to hang out in pubs as a Muslim she wont accept her arranged marriage Although she changes her dresses everyday trying to adapt to different communities Yasmin is confused about her identity On her way home off work she sits on the dales looking towards city We have no clue what Yasmin is looking or whats in her mind but her facial close-up suggests she is confused about her place in the world Perhaps she is getting tired of changing between the identities or maybe she wants to make up her mind about who she is At the end of the film Yasmin decides to do whatever make herself clam and pleasant instead of trying to make everyone happy She might eventually find her sense of belonging through religion Especially when there is an increasing hostility to Muslims after 911 and the gap between white-directing British society and Muslim is almost impossible to diminish she finds going back to religion gives her inner peace2 Yasmins Social RelationshipsAlthough she constantly changes her dress and tries to adapt to both environments her home at Muslim community and her workplace in the city Yasmin is not content with either of them Her father Khalid always criticizes her for she has too much freedom She wants to get a divorce with her arranged husband Faysal but her father wont agree to it At her workstation there are racist jokes of the posts on her locker
