Genocide when we think of South Africa we think of inequalities and other places conquering South Africans But in this case Zulus began to fight for their independence In South Africa Zulus was a local tribe that people usually found threatening and that cause a huge conflict among the Zulus and the British While the British was busy conquering and colonizing a lot of South Africas native people was force to do labors for the British Various Africans attempted to recover their lost unity and overcome the inter-tribal differences Cetshwayo kaMpande united every single tribe in the region to fight the British army The Zulus army was made up with about seven thousand warriors The British had underestimated the amount of Zulus which lead up to the Zulus defeating about fifteen hundred British warriors in Iswalanda The Zulu wars occurred because the British wanted to colonize South Africa for profit The Zulu tribe was a large tribe that didnt want to be ruled by British colonizers who came for slaves and land Though one of the biggest tribes in South Africa the Zulu has been split up and pushed around by other groups The British wanted to conquer as much land as they could and South Africa was one of the places that would end up under their rule They British slowly conquered South Africa beginning with those tribes like Natal who was willing to allow the British to conquer them After taking control of Natal which was right on the border of Zulu territory the British planned to take over the powerful Zulu tribe Though Natal had accepted the rule of the British Zulu didnt and was ready to put up a fight to keep their independence The British hungry for power and land tried two times to take over the Zulu tribe The first time they lost It was the first time British had lost to a native African group losing over 1000
