More About Michael

I love being able to help make a promising piece of writing an impressive, crafted work of prose, and assisting writers to find their voice. Getting to know writers and how they think and work, and accompanying them on this process, is the part of the job I find most rewarding.
What types of documents do you enjoy editing the most?
I studied literature and philosophy, so I’m always interested in work in these subjects, and the Humanities and Social Sciences generally—whether paper, proposal, thesis, monograph, or any other length or form. I also enjoy the challenge of presenting complex material in a clear and accessible form. While this is not always a precept adhered to in academic writing, it’s one I try to follow, and it means that I also find work for non-technical audiences interesting: whitepapers, reports, proposals, and so on. I’ve also edited many novels and short stories. With the rise in self-publishing ushered in by the likes of Amazon, there are many great writers out there whose work is reaching a wide audience. I consider myself privileged to have worked with some of them, and love finding new ones.
In what subject areas are you an expert?
Humanities, Social Sciences, fiction, non-technical non-fiction
What do you do when you’re not editing on Kibin?
In addition to editing for Kibin and academic publishing houses, I also work as a technical writer, providing services on a freelance basis to businesses and individuals. When not working, I try keep up with my two-year-old son: going for walks, playing in the park, assembling toy train tracks. I enjoy cooking, music, and reading, and occasionally drag myself out for a jog.
