Hello! My name is MJ, and I'm an Ontario-based writer/editor with a B.A. in English Lit. I've loved reading and writing (and editing!) for my entire life, and when I was younger I always hoped that one day I would be able to turn my passions into a full-time career. While in university - and working at a coffee shop - I started to do a bit of freelance editing for fellow university students. Shortly after graduating, I was lucky enough to land a summer contract at the Ontario Ministry of Finance, where I wrote and edited Best Practice documents. This opened the door to additional opportunities, and I've had the chance to work with some amazing clients. I genuinely love what I do and am happy to offer my services to anyone who might need them.
I enjoy editing a variety of documents, including resumes, undergraduate essays, dissertations, and business documents. That being said, I do have a particular fondness for emotionally-driven writing such as personal statements, stories, poetry, and anything that relates to literature, art, and music.
As a former student of English Lit, I am quite familiar with any subject related to the study of literature. In addition, throughout my career I have edited papers on every subject imaginable, and have particularly extensive experience with political science, visual arts, film studies, history, women's studies, and nursing. I am also familiar with all major academic citation styles, including MLA, APA, and Chicago.
When I'm not working, I'm usually pursuing my creative passions (writing short fiction, poetry, and music) or spending time outdoors. Like many of my fellow editors, I am also an avid reader, with one book always in progress and a stack of others waiting patiently for their turn.
