More About Alexandra
I'm a freelance editor, writer, and translator as well as an EFL (English as a foreign language) teacher. The written word is a passion for me, so I studied English at university and continue to seek ways to immerse myself in language, learn how to use it, and help others employ it effectively, too.
What types of documents do you enjoy editing the most?
Hmm... I like all documents, but I particularly like documents that talk about something new for me (re: math, the history of canned fish, knock-knock jokes, and so forth). I also really like documents that talk about things I do know about, because they give me a chance to look at the topic from a different perspective.
In what subject areas are you an expert?
My principle strengths are literature, film, foreign languages, creative writing, history, and philosophy, but I'm reasonably well-versed in media & communications, art/art history, sociology, and other humanities-related topics as well. That being said, my brother is a rocket scientist (I swear), and I spent my high school and university years slaving away revising his science and math essays, which ought to be worth something (or at least I hope so). I also have several years of experience working as a writing tutor with ESL and international students, so I am very familiar with the issues these writers often face.
What do you do when you’re not editing on Kibin?
Eat far too much pasta (if there is such a thing as "too much pasta"... I'm not convinced). Besides consuming pasta, I do a lot of shouting in Italian, and some occasional shouting in English. When I'm not shouting or eating - I usually refrain from doing both at the same time - I can be found reading, writing things, making a hapless mess in the kitchen/beadily eyeing the contents of my oven, and crooning along with Edith Piaf in an attempt to reproduce that distinctively French uvular trill.

Client Feedback and Praise
Message from Avross — Thank you so much for helping me with my materials. This is really helpful. I don’t know want to say. Truly appreciate it! I’m feeling so lucky to have you and Audrey as my writing mentors. I have learned a lot and will surely benefit from this in the future. I have checked all the track and changes and accepted most of them. Besides, I have tried my best to shorten some long sentences. Rest of the long sentences are just too hard for me to make them short. I still want my proposal to sound sophisticated and I find lots of academic papers full of long sentences. :P Anyway, I’ll keep this principle in my mind and beware of complex sentences in the future. The link that you shared is really helpful too!
I like the editor. She could always get my meanings and edited to get them clear and stronger. Besides her corrections, she patiently taught me some grammar concepts in her comments. She is a professional and serious editor. Very helpful.
I really liked the manner in which comments were made. Great help!
Great feedback and definitely overlooked some key stuff in my document! Thanks!
Thanks Alexandra for helping with this assignment. She is a good editor and give me some suggestions about the using of reasonable words.
