He said Ive been watching you dad aint that cool Im your buckaroo I wanna be like you And eat all my food and grow as tall as you are Yeah were just alike hey aint we dad I wanna do everything you do So Ive been watching youAtkins In To Kill a Mockingbird a novel by Harper Lee much like the song Watching You by Rodney Atkins there is stable father son relationship in To Kill a Mockingbird its Jem and Atticus However there are many negative father son relationships or no relationships like Dill and his absent father While Dill uses his fathers relationship with him as an example of how not to be a father Jem uses Atticus example as a way to grow up First Atticus is an amazing person he treats everyone the same and is a great example for Scout and Jem They both look up to him even if they think he cant do anything However Jem and Atticus relationship is special Jem looks up to Atticus He wants to be just like him when hes an adult In the beginning Jem is immature hes only eleven years old and sees Atticus as old and doesnt do much when Jem would be playing football Atticus was never too tired to play keep-away but when Jem wanted to tackle him Atticus would say Im too old for that son 118 All the other kids dads are young and active and they have cooler jobs then him while Atticus is just a lawyer However after the mad dog incident where the children find out that Atticus was once known as One Shot Finch Jem has a newfound interest and admiration for his father Its wrong to say that in the beginning of the book that Atticus didnt inspire Jem because he did Its just that after that event he looks up to him even more because this man can
