Personal Reaction Essay A man and a woman who have loved for eight and a half years are finally able to wed after circumstances before had not let them In one sentence the idea sounds cute but Jane Austen author of Persuasion works off that very simple theme to create a masterpiece When Jane Austen was writing this piece one must wonder what she was thinking and what points she wanted to make when she wrote this excellent work Unfortunately we may never know what she was thinking when she wrote this piece of literature but because of her writing we can guess In Austens novel the power of true love true friendship and persuasion are three points brought up numerous times To fall in love once is magical but to reawaken that love especcially eight years later shows just how beautiful life can be When Anne gave up her first chance at a life with Captain Wentworth she never stopped loving him When the Crofts were about to move into Kellylynch the mention of Frederick Wentworths name sent tingles up Annes spine and took away her breath This only continued throughout the novel as she talked her way through meeting him again for the first time in eight years listened to his hesitation when he found that she had been asked to be engaged by another man after she had turned down him and the ride home from Lyme where words were few but her thoughts many Through every step of her immortal love Austen shows just how much Captain Wentworth means to Anne She would never even think of excepting her Cousin Elliots suspected proposal for marriage because in her heart she had made her mind up to not love any other besides Wentworth At the end of the novel Wentworth shows that he also loves Anne just the same as before if not more by the letter he leaves on
