Catching the Detrain In Football Detraining is very popular in the sport of football Football is a multi-component sport that depends on a number of energy sources to meet the strenuous physical demands Football also expends a certain amount of muscular energy in a both dynamic and static manner Few other sports place such a demand on the athletes ability to produce high levels of muscular power The training regimen must necessarily focus on the development of strength power aerobic fitness flexibility and agility Detraining in football is considered as inactivity or decreased levels of activity in either training routine or during the actual competitive season Coaches during the competitive season spend less time on intense physical condition which happens in the pre-season The practice sessions during the season are fitted to maintain the progression of the athletes that they achieved during the off and pre seasons A recent study conducted investigated possible detraining effects in a variety of physiological and performance tests The entire group was tested twice once prior to training camp and again immediately following the season They were given an anaerobic power test and a maximum oxygen consumption test They also tested flexibility in knee and shoulder abduction They also tested them on field tests in bench press vertical jump and a 20 yd shuttle run To analyze results of the pre and post season performances on the tests the players were placed into two separate groups The field tests decreased the oxygen consumption test actually increased 5 percent Muscle test strengthening in all categories all decreased The results in this study could suggest a number of things The players that increased might not have showed up for training camp in their best possible shape The main thing is that coaches should monitor athletes to ensure maximum capacities for an entire season The article was very beneficial to me as an athlete
