The college experience can be very demanding academically Unfortunately some students resort to cheating in order to make acceptable grades This is the case with Brad as he submits a paper he didnt write Carl another student is aware of Brads action and realizes he too is in danger if he fails to notify proper college authority of Brads dishonest behavior Carl is faced with a moral decision and has the following options do his part and inform authorities of Brads dishonesty without giving Brad time to confess warn Brad that he wont turn him in this time but will if it happens again tell Brad that he will inform the proper authorities if Brad refuses to confess to his academic dishonesty or he can ignore the situation and allow Brad to accept credit for anothers work If Carl decides to inform authorities without giving Brad time to confess he could ruin his friendship with Brad and ruin his reputation with fellow classmates Although Brads action is morally wrong and he should be punished Carl would be morally wrong to turn Brad in without notifying Brad first The feeling of guilt could take over Brads conscious and he could decide to turn himself in Another option Carl may consider would be to warn Brad that he wont turn him in this time but assure him that he will turn him in if it happens again However this option may only encourage Brad to be more careful in making sure that no one knows of his dishonesty This in turn is teaching Brad nothing but bad moral behavior Also if Brad gets caught without Carls help Brad could convince to authorities of Carls knowledge and Carl could also be in academic trouble for not reporting the incident If Carl takes this option to approach Brad he is notifying Brad that he knows about it which makes him in just as dishonest as Brad
