How to Succeed at College What is a College Education For If a team of people went out on the streets of Chicago and surveyed about two hundred people asking them what the main reason was for getting a college education the majority would most likely say that getting a better job would be the main reason This is also Otto Friedrichs answer which ranks it first out of five possibles I would have to disagree with Friedrich on this one because I feel that education teaches morals is the most important of all the five The reason being our society today is crumbling when it comes to morals on the street on television in the business world and in many home lives For instance when we turn on the tv you see shows like Jerry Springer throwing smut right in the viewers face or in the newspaper reading about thousands of people being laid off like it was no big deal I believe ethics classes should be pushed more as college curriculum and maybe made placed under the realm of core classes So the first important reason for learning is the idea that education teaches morals my second is education transmits civilization The reason that I chose this one is that we need to impart more knowledge onto the upcoming generations then previous generations did for us This is crucial to the whole of civilization because we can help to make their lives a great deal easier and useful if our successes and our failures can be passed on and Grill2 heeded by others The next important idea is education means careers The reason I chose the greedy one is because the majority of the human race are greedy I do not want to be poor The main reason that my parents are sending me to college is
