The founding fathers had to go through lots of decision-makings before arriving to what makes up the political system we have today There were made attempts and crucial decisions in effect in the early 1770s One of the main concerns the American people was what type of government they were going to live in Hoping that it would be a government that would not use oppression high taxation laws and abuse civil rights Also being able to participate on the decisions that are being decided on legislation and as well as who would better represent them was key interests In other words the American people wanted to live in what it is today a democratic government There were two important documents that were able to supplement each other the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution However the Constitution was more a Democratic system than the Articles of Confederation Government power was a concern within the colonies after the liberation from the British Government in the early 1770s Americans believed on having state institutions rather than a national government Due to the uncentralized government the British had upon its people Americans believed that a central government should be maintained weak and then enforce state own power This was also in response to the tyrannical government they had lived in There were major differences between the Articles of Confederation and the Constitution In November 1777 congress came in agreement to develop a plan for a Union Then a document was adopted by congress it was called the Articles of Confederation It became in effect in 1781 UN pg 136-137 Congress established the Article of Confederation for the states that were sovereign and independent subsequent to the American Revolution The articles of confederation would let to a central government but was able to tax or set commercial power nor could support effectively a war It did not have the power to settle disputes between
