In the comparison of The Blue Jar and The Rime of the Ancient Mariner go on a journey to discover hope Both The Blue Jar and The Mariner happen in different ways but they symbolize the same meanings In The Blue Jar Lady Helena is on a quest to find her true love and thinks that with that she will find happiness In The Mariner he wants to seek forgiveness As similar as the stories may come off both The Mariner and Lady Helena have their differences Lady Helena goes on a quest to look for a lost love and finds herself at the end of the road in her life with nothing to show for it but disappointment The dependency of her lost love was a choice made at the beginning by her father There is no super-natural effect on Lady Helens story In The Mariner he is on a quest to seek forgiveness because he kills one of Mother Natures creations Because of this disaster The Mariner experiences physical pain and his experience is of a super-natural effect After long term suffering The Mariner decides that the best ways to find forgiveness is to appreciate all living things The similarities in this story are very obvious Both Lady Helena and The Mariner on a sea and on a quest for a meaning Not only did they learn about morals but also they discovered that hope kept them content with life In seek for love and forgiveness both Lady Helena and The Mariner are punished In conclusion a lesson learned on both parts is not to be so intent on something that might or might not ever happen because life just like age will continue without you So like everything else in life use good judgment in certain situations and be realistic even if it hurts
