Buddhism Vs Hinduism Charanbir Gill Date 15 December 2003 Word Count Buddhism and Hinduism are two of the most important religions in the world today Both religions started in southern Asia therefore the religions both stem from similar cultures philosophies and backgrounds But there is big difference in their beliefs values and in ideas The beliefs values and some other issues in society of the Hinduism became so meaningless and unrealistic and then a modern religion came in shape called Buddhism Buddhism accepted many beliefs from Hinduism but rejected some of the beliefs that seemed as meaningless and unrealistic that period of time Buddhism arose out of and in many ways in rebellion against Indias Hinduism that many perceived to have gradually declined throughout its long history traceable at least as far back as its ancient scriptures the Upanishads Buddhism is based on the teaching of Siddhartha Gautama the historical Buddha who was born around 563 BC in what is now Nepal Having systematically rejected all the prevalent spiritual belief systems of his day So Some People in world see Buddhism an update of Hinduism Buddhism is more enhanced and realistic than Hinduism in beliefs values and in society Buddhism has more logical beliefs than Hinduism Hinduism teaches that you must go through samsara in order to finally reach moksha They do not believe that a soul can totally cleanse itself of all impurities in just one life It is a gradual process involving dharma balancing ones life and karma weighing the deeds of a lifetime Meanwhile the Buddha again went and brought question to samsara He found that it is possible to cleanse oneself in one lifetime and return to Brahma He called it nirvana In order to achieve nirvana a Buddhist must follow and accept The Four Noble Truths and the Eightfold Path The Eightfold Path serves as an instructional
