Damnit1 A large puddle of murky brownwater surrounds my shoes in an attempt to seep into theminto the softwhite cotton of my socksIquicly leave the pools depths for higher ground justin time for the bus to drench my pant cuffs with dirty backsplash as it rushes off into the distance Newspapers and stray gum wrappers dance wildly in the whirlwind of exhaust fumes that hangs over the road Stepping onto the cracked sidewalk i avoid the sticky clumps of colorful old gumThe concrete is strewn with undefiable bits or garbage and filth The newspaper dispensers are pock-marked with cigarette burns and have dirty displays windows FLMG is etched onto the top of the yellow dispenserthe red one has more colorful language scratched onto its side Ishift the camera in my hands and edge the balck glossy strap onto my shoulder Proceeding down the dingy street I glance at my watchI have to shield my eyesto avoid the reflection of the metal band as it glints madly in the mid-afternoon sun Hey watch where youre going gorwls a menacing voiceI look up into the face of a short red-faced man He has brown shoes and taps his foot impatiently on the sidewalk Sweating profusely under the sun and being held up by a mere girl he becomes angry and hostile Amist hot smelly shoppers he joustles me to get by I clutch my nikon to me and hurridly carry on down the street Threading my way through the crown i am bombarded with many sensations The aromas of old deep-fryer greasesmog and faint odoror urinine seem to emanate from the very buildings themselvesLight reflects off every possible surface and is blinding and disorienting to the eye Chrome and rubber dominate the street and the squeeling of the tires intermingle with the sounds of the sidewalk Everywhere I look I see the fast-paced actions of a restless city I
