The production I critiqued is Fairy Tale Follies by A J Jacobs done by the high school students of Foothills Academy Despite the fact that they had a small cast and crew the production was quite enjoyable The play itself did not really follow Aristotles components of drama as much as other plays might have A weak plot contributed to this A plot is the mechanics to tell a story Since this play had many tales in it there was no real settle plot The overall plot was that the director did not a play to give to the audience The director forgot to prepare a play for the audience since he forgot the day the play was going to be put on He solves this by having a narrator tell a story from a book of fairy tales while he tosses actors and actresses to act out the scene The play went through eight different fairy tales to help the director This makes him feel that he produced a legit play The disappointment about doing a play this way is that there was no real climax in the play giving a sense of a flat plot The protagonist in this play was the director The protagonist is a person that takes the action of the plot The only problem with the director being the protagonist is that he was not noble heroic nor virtuous The only barrier he had was his own incompetents to produce a play He actually achieves his goal which is to present a play making this play a comedy He could not accomplish his goal with out the help of many characters Some of the characters were the King and his three sons who help the director The made sure that there were always other characters there to fill the roles that he needed for the tales These characters were very important to the play
