a Laws rules and customs all exist in an ordered world The three terms have distinct different meanings and purposes although at the same time have a great relationship and all rely one each other In order for them to function correctly they must all sit in the same line and set out a similar example of what is morally right Laws are rules established by a governing authority to institute and maintain orderly coexistence while rules are a simpler term of regulations and expectancy of a certain community made by an authority they are legally binding A custom relates to the practice and tradition of a particular group and region that can sometimes have the same force as a rule or law Laws are amongst the most powerful They conduct within the state they were made for and apply for every citizen When laws are made they are made by the system of courts judges hear the disputes and reasons between the parties This is then called the legal system which has been developed through tradition in many countries Laws differ from rules Laws apply to the whole state and when they are broken the individuals punishment is taken in hand by the courts Laws keep society together and prevent chaos and teach us what is morally right Laws have a relation to rules when rules are made they need to compliment the law An example of this would be when a rule is made in a community It needs to establish how the law addresses the issue first An example in Australia would be that it is illegal for a person under the age of 18 to purchase alcohol or cigarettes In this case if a certain liquor store has no rule against this issue and are selling it to teenagers without any identification of age it goes against the law It gives a terrible example and defeats the purpose of having the
