Living in a dorm can be a great experience You get to meet new people and try out things that you either never thought you would want to try or never thought you would get the chance to try But while living in a dorm can be an adventure at times there are those times when it can be hell Being a musical education major here at Florida State University I have the wonderful opportunity to live in the music and education dorm Cawthon Hall This wonderful residence hall has many benefits of living here First off its mainly geared to music majors so there are many facilities here for us One is the practice room on the first floor This is great because now instead of dragging my instrument over to the music building finding a practice room that is empty and then dragging my instrument back to the dorm after I am done It so much easier to use the practice rooms here in the dorm because all I have to is go get the key at the front desk I wouldnt even have to leave the building to practice Other amenities here include a piano lab downstairs in the basement in the same as the computer lab which doesnt get much use because everyone here has a computer in the room One MAJOR disadvantage to living in a music dorm however is the fact that not all of the residents here use the practice rooms In other words they practice in their rooms which isnt allowed Let me put this in prospective for you Its 1130 at night and you just remembered that you have a paper due the next morning at 800am so you sit down at your computer intent on getting it done in time to get some decent sleep that night Your half way through the paper and its going very well so far Youve got this great
