St Ignatius created many principles and standards by which we Christians try to live by The Church holds up St Ignatius as an example for us to follow because of his lifestyle and his willingness to do everything for the greater glory of God St Ignatius had a very interesting life He changed lifestyles in his early thirties Ignatius was a wealthy young man He was a messenger of the Velazquez family and made lots of money With this money Ignatius was well groomed He wore nice clothes had combed and cut hair and had cut nails With the money Ignatius also started to gamble drink and try to impress girls He would leave all this behind after his injury at the battle of Pamplona When Ignatius was recovering he read books on saints and their accomplishments He admired St Dominic and St Francis of Assisi and wanted to become like them He decided that the life he was living was not the one that God wanted him to live He decided to live a life of prayer and peacefulness with God and Jesus This turning point was the thing that most impressed me about the life of St Ignatius Ignatius made many principles such as presume the best men for others and Magis I would like to imitate the principle of men for others discernment Magis and presume the best I like the principle of men for others because you try your best to help many other people in small ways like a teacher explaining something better to a class if it is confusing or a student helping a hurt person carry their books In the presume the best principle you always think of positive ideas and thoughts of someone you never have met Ignatius talked to begged for food from many people but he always presumed the best of the person when they answered him on if they would give him food
