The Bible is divided into two parts namely Old Testament and New Testament The Old Testament contains 34 books and the New Testament contains 27 books The book of Esther is one of the books of Old Testament Esther reveals more about Jewish identity during the Babylon captivity than about history Esther saved the Jews of Shushan from the hands of Haman evil During the time when king Ahasuerus promoted Haman the son of Hammedatha placed his seat above all the Princess Thus all other kings servants bowed down and obeisance to Haman But Mordecai did not bowed down neither obeisance Haman Then the kings servant said to Mordecai Why do you transgress the kings Command The kings servant asked Mordecai that why did he neglect the kings order One of the servants told Haman that Mordecai was a Jew Then the kings wicked minister Haman persuaded Ahasuerus to have all the Jews in the empire killed Further when Mordecai told this event to Esther then they decided to tell the king that Esther was Jewish and to plead with him to spare her people from destruction She handed the situation once she knows what she had to do She asked everyone to support her by fasting to give her strength Esther fasted in perparation for her visit to the king and then she revealed her Jewish origin She asked the king and Haman to come to a banquet She fed the two men well gave them plenty of wine Then she tells the king about Hamans disloyalty Ahasuerus was angry with Haman and had him killed for his Plot In another words it took brain to plan such a strategy She saved the Jews of Shushan The book of Esther also talks about the Jewish festival of Purim The festival of Purim celebrates a major victory over opposing and is recounted in the book of Esther Jews celebrate the survival of their people
