Cops theres a million of them Crooked or straight white or black male or female they all makeup the thin blue line This thin blue line separates the good from the bad with the blue line representing the officer and their efforts to keep us safe The men and women that keep our streets safe can come in many uniforms including city cops sheriff and their deputies and my personal favorite state troopersCity cops have the smallest jurisdiction of all three Take the city of Toccoa Police Department TPD for example they roam only the streets of Toccoa and cuts citations to motorist without much action Then you have the Los Angeles Police Department LAPD which still only has jurisdiction in Los Angeles but LA is a much bigger city than Toccoa An officer for the LAPD might escort a Dodgers baseball player at the beginning of the night then raid a drug dealers house just an hour later A TPD officer might only pull their weapon a handful of times in his career whereas a LAPD officer might pull their weapon several times a shift City cops are generally safer in the aspect that their backup isnt far away from their locationSecond you have the sheriff and their deputies they have statewide jurisdiction but it is considered unethical to take any action outside of your county unless life or land is in peril In the case of the Stephens County Sheriffs Office SCSO you could be stopping motorist on a 4 lane highway for speeding then get a burglary in progress call to a house that calls for you to walk a mile up a dirt road alone to catch a criminal Another factor thats not good for the SCSO is money My cousin is a deputy for the SCSO he told me that his sergeant only makes 1450 per hour whereas a cadet for the Georgia State Patrol makes over 16 per hour
