Human Sexuality Sex repeats itself through out history time and time again in ancient civilizations such as Mesopotamia they had a system that treated women as sexual servants Sex was also seen as a means of procreations well as way of transcending spiritual healing Much like the Egyptians that also believed that sexuality and spirituality were connected to one another The Egyptians felt that sensuality aroused the origin of life and believed that sex with the dead was part of the circle of life for example the story of Isis and Osiris Osiris body was cut into many pieces and scattered along the Nile Isis Osiris wife spends all her time recovering her husbands body parts including his male member she later mummifies him and ultimately has sex with him This shows how Egyptians believed that sensuality and birth could occur even at death The Egyptians were also well known for their freedom and romance as well as their erotic poetry they also practiced many forms of birth control which proved to be effective like the Papyrus as a sponge honey the acacia plant as well as sour milk They were also well known for their sexual graffiti which showed satire thru symbols that combined humor sex and eroticism together including geese ducks and monkeys The Egyptians felt that like everything in life sex and spirituality was a balance The Greeks had similar beliefs as the Egyptians they preferred the animal aspect of sex The men had enormous sexual appetites for women as well as for other men and boys this was called pederasty The Greeks did not have moral judgment against homosexuals gays were considered normal and believed it to be a rite of passage for boys The women that were not conservative at this time were referred to as servants of Aphrodite these women felt liberated in society and they socialized and indulged with other Greek men The men believed
