Welfare The United States of America is known as the country of freedom and opportunity In todays society many Americans are abusing their right of freedom In our governmental system welfare has become a problem Hard working American tax dollars are being used to help unemployed people to live modestly and some live extremely well Unemployed Americans have grown dependent on welfare They dont try to find a job to support their family This problem is growing rapidly every year and a solution needs to be quickly found The welfare program is important for many people The purpose of welfare is to assist people who are jobless or cant make ends meet financially However many people take advantage of this system because there are numerous ways to abuse the welfare system People have unlawfully given their food stamps to store operators in exchange for cash Also some people that have jobs where they are paid in cash dont record under the table money they earn at work This misrepresents their total income and allows them to receive food stamps Welfare greatly impacts our democracy system because the hard working Americans are paying their tax dollars to care for jobless individuals who decide not to try in life One solution to remedy this problem is to set stricter rules on who is qualified to receive welfare The government should do a complete background check on all individuals applying to receive welfare Also they should enforce the food stamp policy Welfare employees must make sure all welfare recipients are using food stamps for the purchase of food and groceries only The pros would be that the money would be going to Americans who truly need assistance with their financial situation Also it would greatly reduce the number of people who abuse the system The cons would be that it would take a long time to complete a full background search on all individuals waiting to receive welfare
