Discussion The purpose of free weight strength test lab was to measure our one rep max for bench press standing press and straight bar curl Once we got out results we were to compare them college students men and women of their same age group The students in Exercise Physiology 2 were supposed to first warm up with a weight for each exercise and do between 2 and 20 reps The students then had the opportunity to continue to figure out there max weight or could calculate a formula to determine the answer When comparing my free weight 1RM bench press strength to other males and females with in my age group I was in the 60ile My 1RM bench press was 155 lbs and my one rep max was 2153 pounds My one rep max was calculated by equations in our lab experiment This shows that I was slightly above average compared to the men of my age group Compared to the women in the same category I lifted 50 lbs more then the strongest women in this category This put me over the 95ile and shows that I was stronger then the women in this category for this age group During the two-arm curl exercise I lifted 50 lbs 10 times with my one rep max was 875 lbs On Table 8 in the lab manual for 1-RM my Two-arm Curl Strength to my bodyweight ratio was 043 Compared to other men in this category I was on the border- line of being average which ranged from 040-050 Compared to other women in the same category I fell in between above average and high The body to weight ratio for women in the high aspect was 045-050 and for the above average group it was 038-042 My body to weight ratio was 043 For the 1-RM Two-arm Curl strength I did well compared to other people in my group In
