When a person realizes that they prefer sexual orientation with a partner of the same sex it is quite tough for them to publicize it When teenagers realize theyre gay they have an even tougher time On top of their everyday traumatic life of school friends and family they now must also deal with peoples acceptance of their homosexuality As much as there is nothing wrong in desiring someone of the same sex not everyone is so blas about it It might be easy for some teenagers to come out but for others it could be like a bomb waiting to explode For those who have no problem coming out the experience is quite exhilarating They can finally be open with their feelings and sexuality These people care little about how people will judge them because they are proud comfortable and happy with their homosexuality They know people who understand and respect their choices They surround themselves with people who support their choice and who might be gay Unfortunately this scenario barely happens for most teenagers Fear is the common feeling most teenagers experience when coming out For the rest of the teenage community hiding their sexuality coming out is not easy for them Take for instance Joy C She is one of the many teenagers afraid of confessing her hidden secret Her world is rocked when her mom reads her journal The room seemed to be getting smaller and my breath quickened as I clenched my fist and felt my fingernails dig into my palmBachmann Barth Pancer 32 The journal for her was a way to release her feelings and a start for her to accept her gayness Eventually the truth would come out but she wanted to decide when the time would be Joy exemplifies the torment a person goes through when they must tell the truth about being gay But Coming to terms with being out
