A neighborhood is anything one makes it to be It can be as large as a metropolitan area or as small as the block you live on A college dorm is also a neighborhood and a very diverse and complex one at that Hundreds of people crammed into one square block living there for an entire school year and trying to get along Walking through campus on any given day you can expect to her many different languages spoken on the street pass hundreds of different nationalities and religions and become friends with people you would have never met otherwise Moving in is an interesting college experience Everyone in your dorm is in the same position as you No one knows anyone else aside from maybe one or two friends that decided on the same school but even then theres a small chance that they are living in the same dorm as you are People make friends fast and dont have much trouble doing so as almost everyone seems friendly enough at first If you leave your door open random people will stop by and introduce themselves within the first week or two Some of them you may see again and some you may not Eventually everyone makes their own group and you begin to settle in on whom your closer friends are Living in Minnesota however its hard to find a lot of diversity among students Sure there are a lot of African American students as well as European students and Chinese and so on But regardless of how many there are it is obvious that they are much of the minority U students seem to be mostly middle class white kids from somewhere in Minnesota or Wisconsin and thats basically how it all pans out However there are obviously many groups formed among this majority The girlie girls are the people I loathe the most This group can be found in the main
