Waiting Periods and Bans on Guns Gun violence is a tragic crime and a growing epidemic that has killed many people in the United States and has to be stopped One way to stop the majority of gun violence is to put a waiting period on the purchase of guns The waiting period will help stop criminals such as drug dealers gang members and hate groups from getting guns States such as New Jersey have put in effect a background check before purchasing a handgun which has stopped over ten thousand criminals for getting guns There would be a greater public safety if this were done in all the states Automatic weapons have been banned because there is no use for those kinds of guns in the publics hand When waiting periods and bans are put into use this would stop an incredible amount of the bloodshed in this country My issues on Sarah Brady essay A Case Against Firearms are somewhat different then her issues just by the way we look at firearms Owning a gun is one of our constitutional rights and does not make us bad people or criminals although some people might think it does If a person owns a gun they are looked upon as a bad person in Bradys essay because of her views and issues on guns Brady does not look at guns the same way I do probably because of her husband getting shot and therefore having a bias opinion on guns My view is guns are a part of many peoples lives whether for sport or for protection Bradys points about gun safety but are based on her opinion and views I do not agree with all the points she makes because my views on gun safety are different Guns are not the problem the people who do not know how to respect and use guns properly are Brady makes some good points
