The United States of America the land of the free and here you have the right to choose how you want to live But what if you arent educated enough to understand how to live a healthy life Then you dont really have that choice do you Knowledge is power and with obesity levels rising in the United States one begins to wonder if Americans have the knowledge to live a healthy lifestyle In todays society where you cant watch television without seeing commercials for new exercise programs and diet pills you would think that people in America must care about their weight and living healthy It all starts with education if one isnt educated on how to be healthy one will probably not be healthy Sounds like a pretty simple idea doesnt it Then how come Physical Education classes arent considered important enough to be an everyday class in a lot of our K-12 schools The first step towards a healthier America needs to be education if children are taught early how to live a healthy life chances are they will Obesity in America is becoming a major problem According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in 2000 400000 deaths occurred due to poor diet and physical inactivity Thats only 35000 less than caused by tobacco related deaths which is the leading cause of death in America Reuters 2004 With the death rate of obesity being so high how come we havent seen any major change in the way Americans live It is because Americans are not educated enough on the subject No one wants to be overweight or obese but people dont understand that every little thing that you do could help fight this problem or make it worse How often do you see people driving around a parking lot looking for the closest possible spot they can find Why not park as far away as possible so you
