America is said to be the land of opportunity and choice but in the past instances have inferred that at one point in time everyones rights were being denied or dispirited The Emancipation Proclamation I Have a Dream and the Lovings vs Virginia are all events that took place in order to reinstate peoples rights or that showed peoples rights being denied They all contain common elements which include civil rights and equality All of these activists Lincoln Dr King and the Lovings were fighting for something they felt was right The Emancipation Proclamation is a speech about giving some black people their rights back in the I have a Dream speech people are being told to protest for their rights and to stand up for themselves and in The Lovings case they were fully denied their rights to be married Abraham Lincoln delivered his speech The Emancipation Proclamation in order to serve as an opening piece in resolving the conflicts of slavery Lincoln felt the abolishment of slavery was necessary in order to unite the people of the south and the north Unfortunately many conservatives lost respect and support for Lincoln because he chose to let some slaves go free This led to the Revolutionary War The Emancipation Proclamation back then gave some black people the freedom the deserved but when they became free they also had issues of respect and opportunities Today the Emancipation Proclamation is misunderstood as a speech that freed all the black slaves but it did not do exactly what its purpose was Lincoln had more hope for what it would signify but unfortunately his hopes did not come true Martin Luther King Jr wrote I Have a Dream at a time when black people were being severely oppressed Although blacks were free at this time they still were restricted from certain things For instance black people and white people had separate water fountains and attended separate schools Dr Kings
