Values Where Have We Been and Where Are We Going When you think of your values what do you think of I think of my family God work ethic and friends Values are and have always been a very important part of society They have changed with the times and even returned with the times While I believe that the way some values need change others are changing although I see no reason for them to change One of the most important values we have ever had is that of family We have seen this value change in many ways In the past there were families that we would call true families The perfect family was seen a lot In this perfect family both parents were still married The father would work while the mother stayed home to take care of the kids You would normally have the 25 kids and a dog You saw this in the TV shows of the past Some examples of these are Leave it to Beaver and Andy Griffith Both of these shows stressed the values of the family of the past Today the family has changed dramatically This value is not as important as it was in the past You will not normally see the perfect family You see many parents getting divorced and the single parent families You may have blended families with step-parents and step-siblings You may even see a family with two homosexuals living together with adopted children While some television shows for example 7th Heaven stress the importance of family most do not I believe that this value will change I believe that this value will keep changing in the way it has I believe we will see the perfect families disappear Hopefully this will be a value that comes back to us in the future Equality is an issue that is as big of an issue now as
