Capital punishment or in other words what is so called the death penalty is considered one of the most severe punishments that anyone can receive As it is generally known executions are one of the most debatable topics around Even today in the United States and many other nations around the world it remains very questionable whether executions should be banned or enforced Although everyone has their own view and opinion on how executions should be handled after reading this essay you will hopefully have grasped a better understanding about such a harsh punishment and will see why it is necessary and should be applied Each year there are about 250 people added to death row and 35 of those are executed Once a jury has convicted a criminal of their offences they go to the second part of the trial which is the punishment phase there are two phases in a trial the first is to find out if the accused is truly at fault and second to determine a punishment for the accused if heshe is truly guilty In the US if the jury recommends the death penalty and the judge agrees then the criminal will face some form of execution One of the most common forms of execution is the lethal injection or the electric chair Along with this general information this essay will also mention both sides of executions and will be giving you the reader a general idea about both the negative and positive perspectives of capital punishment Also mentioning some of the reasons why capital punishment should be supported One of the strongest arguments against capital punishment is that it is a cruel and unusual form of punishment Some people believe that the death penalty is morally wrong those same people would state that by killing the guilty we are not teaching society a lesson but instead we are just repeating what the accused did People believe
