Hiroshima- was it necessary On August 9th 1945 the President of the United States of America addressed the nation with some very important news He stated The first atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima a military base It was the 6th of August 1945 when the new breed of destruction the Atomic bomb had been dropped on the port city of Hiroshima in Japan killing 70000 people instantly Since there have been many debates about whether it was necessary to drop the devastating blast in World War II Although it is hard to predict what would have happened if it wasnt it is almost certain that the casualties that would result in continuing battles would have been greater Thus I strongly believe that the Atomic bomb was necessary USA had been fighting a fierce war with Japan since 1941 and the morale as well as the resources of the military was extremely low It was an obvious decision to win the war as quick as possible with the loss of as little life as possible If America hadnt dropped the bomb then the only possible option would have been for the military to enter and invade Japan In that period of time the Japanese government was equipping normal civilians with any weapon they could afford from guns to spears If the Allies had risked a frontal assault they would have been greatly outnumbered from all sides by rifles and spears The number of casualties would have been far greater The Japanese would have continued to fight the foreign army to the death if it meant bringing one down with them It was the atomic bomb that made the Japanese surrender saving thousands of allied soldiers lives Japan was frequently bombed with conventional weapons that the people in Japan were so used to it and they were always prepared and ready for it that it became like an everyday task for them The normal
